It seems that the team over at Control D really does listen to feedback. After I shared my review of Control D which was a little less than a month ago, someone from the Control D team reached out to let me know that the issues I was having with my UDM Pro, were resolved.
This (the issue) was related to Unifi OS 3.2.9, which was reported here: https://github.com/Control-D-Inc/ctrld/issues/130
We were able to reproduce and fix it in v1.3.4 release.

As soon as I got the email, I uninstalled Next DNS on my UDM Pro and threw Control D on there.
AND IT WORKED! The issue I was having was no more!
I would like to thank the team over at Control D for taking my critical feedback and implementing a fix. It shows when a company/startup actually cares about their product and listens to feedback from their customers.
So would would I reccomend the product now?
Yes. All my issues with the product have been solved!
It seems that Unifi may be the one to blame after all for this issue.
Something I forgot to mention in my last review was latnecy.
In my particular location (Northern Virginia) the latency is faster than Next DNS. It seems more stable as well.
The final verdict.
Control D was able to take customer feedback and deliver a fix in a short amount of time.
They seem to really care about the product they built and about their customers.
I have officially cancelled my auto-renewal with Next DNS and will be going with Control D for the near term future.
Cheers,
Joe
