Changes compared to build 23403.1001.
Start
The profile menu can now show badges when specific tasks must be taken, like making a backup.
The start menu can now show websites between your recommended items. A website can be removed individually, or the feature can be disabled altogether.
Taskbar
The taskbar can now show seconds.
Search
Search can now show tips on how to use it.
Improved performance for search.
The search box will now be white when using a dark Windows theme but a light app theme.
Widgets
Widgets no longer requires you to sign-in with a Microsoft account.
Adds the PC Game Pass widget.
Widgets can now be expanded to appear full screen.
Widgets settings has been split up in Settings and Add widgets.
You can now pick if the Widgets board should open on hover. Enabled by default.
You can now set the widgets button to show notification badges. Enabled by default.
You can now allow the widgets button to rotate through content. Enabled by default.
Support has been added for third party widgets.
The various buttons under widgets have been merged into a single bar that (depending on your feature configuration) will appear as a sidebar or topbar.
System tray & Action Center
The battery tooltip will now show if your device is charging slowly.
The printer icon has been updated to match the new icon design.
Sound output
The sound output flyout can now control your spatial audio settings and which device is being used.
Volume Mixer has been added to the flyout to control individual apps sound levels.
Notification Center
Notifications for security codes can now contain a quick action to copy the included security code.
User interface
The "Shut Down Windows" dialog no longer shows the Windows logo.
Suggested Actions will now show an action to search online.
The Spotlight UI on the desktop can now show a small modal with more information about the background and options to switch to something else.
File Explorer
A pizza icon may be shown indicating the transition from WinUI 2 to WinUI 3.
Settings
Icons and illustrations in Settings will now animate.
System
Display
Advanced display settings now provide a setting under “Refresh rate” to enable Dynamic Refresh Rate for external displays.
Graphics settings have been revamped.
Updates the design of the page to match the Windows 11 design language.
The default settings have been moved to the primary page.
Adding apps now can be done through the “Add desktop app” and “Add Windows Store app” instead of having to use the “Add an app” dropdown and clicking “Browse”.
Apps now show all options inline in a collapsible settings panel instead of a modal.
Your preferred GPU can now be selected from a dropdown instead of a radio group.
The “Optimizations for windowed games” settings now does the inverse of the previous “Don’t use optimizations for windowed games” setting.
Auto Color Management has been added as “Automatically manage color for apps”. Disabled by default.
Power & battery
New settings have been added to set how Windows should react to pressing the power button on your device.
Storage
When changing the partition style under “Disks & Volumes”, you’ll now be warned for potential data loss.

“Show the touch keyboard when no keyboard is attached” has been replaced with “Show the touch keyboard” and now gives the option to show it “Never”, “When no keyboard attached”, and “Always”. “When no keyboard attached” by default.

Adds “Custom word list” as a description for the section.
Windows Update
Various changes have been made to the update management.
Windows now calculates the update deadline based on when the device first found the update, rather than its release date for quality updates and the reboot pending date for feature updates.
The “Specify deadlines for automatic updates and restarts” Group Policy was split up between quality and feature updates. Both policies have the same options but add “Don’t auto-restart until end of grace period”.

File Explorer
When importing photos from an iPhone over USB, the photos will now be transferred in HEIF format if the HEVC extension is installed, otherwise it will continue to use JPEG.
Print Queue
The app will now show a refresh button.
Task Manager
The coloring on graphs has been made slightly more transparent to improve visibility of the grid lines.
You can now create live kernel memory dumps from the System process in Details.
Graphs on the Performance-page in dark mode now have a more saturated color that match up with their light-theme counter parts and have a fill color with a higher transparency.
The threshold for the width of the windows before the navigation rale to appear has been lowered.
Settings for live kernel memory dump have been added.
“Abort if insufficient memory” has been added, enabled by default.
“Capture Hypervisor pages” has been added, disabled by default.
“Include nonessential pages” has been added as a sub setting of “Capture Hypervisor pages”, disabled by default.

Windows Security
The Windows Security firewall notification dialogs have been updated to match the Fluent Design language and now dim the background when in focus. - Temporarily disabled since build 25276.
Adds the Windows Security version under Settings > About.
Windows Security has been updated to use the Fluent Design System.
The accent color selected by the user is now used instead of the default blue.
Pro editions no longer allow users to connect to a remote share with guest credentials by default.
Adds Local Security Authority protection under Device security > Core isolation. Enabled by default if supported.
Windows Subsystem for Linux
WSL is no longer included with Windows by default and now requires being installed through the Microsoft Store.

Improvements to the key repeat rate for the traditional and default touch keyboard layout.
If on-device speech recognition is used, you can now allow Windows to use your voice clips to improve recognition.
Adds support for the French AZERTY and BÉPO keyboard layouts.
The previous AZERTY layout is now named “French (Legacy, AZERTY).
Clicking the notification after pressing Alt + Shift will now open the customize option.
Updates the Simplified Chinese handwriting recognition engine to work faster and more accurate with support for new characters.

The Simplified Chinese IME will now show suggestions from the cloud.
The search suggestions feature will now allow you to insert suggestions as text or search on Bing.
A button has been added to turn on text suggestions from Bing and cloud suggestions. Disabled by default.
Accessibility
Live captions support has been added for Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish and other English dialects.
Narrator will now just say “volume” instead of “system volume state” when setting focus to a Quick Settings icon in the taskbar.
When moving a Quick Settings icon in the taskbar with Alt + Shift + Left/Right, Narrator will now tell you that it moved the icons.
System
The WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment) has been updated with new icons.
Local Administrator Password Solution is now a native part of Windows.
Windows now supports DNS over LTS.
The default capture duration for
powercfg -sleepstudy
has been bumped from 3 days to 7 days.Updates SMB authentication rate to prevent brute force attacks. Enabled by default and set to a 2000ms delay.
The screen shown while resetting your PC will now be using a black background.
The Windows Firewall alert has been revamped with a Fluent Design dialog and now dims the background similar to User Access Control dialogs.
The dialog that is shown when an app has known compatibility issues has been updated to be somewhat in line with Fluent Design.
The SCOOBE (Second-Chance OOBE) has been updated to use the user name.
The Remote Mailslot Protocol is now disabled by default.
Fonts
Euphemia typeface has been updated to cover more of the Canadian Syllabic script including various Cree orthographies, Inuktitut, and the Carrier/Dakelh script.
The Nayla font has been updated to support syllables for the Gurage language orthography from the Ethiopic Extended-B Unicode range.
Updates a number of Ethiopic kerning to fix gaps and errors.
